Excursion to Futova cave with a gide
Have you heard the legend of Futyo – the poor shepherd who worked for a wealthy Ottoman landowner?
How he became rich in a single day, where he hid his treasure, and how his story ends?
Your guides, Petya and Vladi – locals from the village of Karpachevo – will take you along the path connected to this legend and lead you to the cave named after Futyo himself.

Futyo Cave is one of the most intriguing caves on the Devetashko Plateau.
Shaped by the area’s unique karst landscape, the cave reveals spacious galleries, narrow passages, natural formations on the walls and ceilings, and an atmosphere of ancient mystery.
It’s a wonderful experience for guests who enjoy exploration and a bit of adventure.

Depending on the season, you may see the cave’s inhabitants – bats – and along the hike you can often spot wild animals: rabbits, tortoises, hedgehogs, pheasants, roe deer.
The path also offers a variety of local herbs and wildflowers typical for the plateau.

Part of the route can be done by car, which shortens the hiking time.
